Please consider contributing material for the web site |
| If you have original 'hard copy' or prints of old photographs, post cards, local artwork, maps, documents, ephemera, artifacts, etc., that you would permit us to photograph
for use on our web site (or donate) you can bring them to one of our "digitizing sessions" that will be posted from time to time on this
web site. These "digitizing sessions" are held a few times a year and are usually conducted at the William G. Rohrer Memorial Library on MacArthur Blvd. in
Haddon Township. Your items will be scanned or photographed that day while you wait. Or you can send electronic files to Haddon Township Historical Society Frequently Asked Questions: Why is it important to share my Haddon Township historical materials? Haddon Township has a long and interesting history. However, Haddon Township does not have nearly the preserved documented historical record of townships with strong continuously active historical societies. We are trying to change this. Sharing your material will allow it to be preserved in a digital format for future generations. Will allowing my items to be "scanned" or "digitized" or "photographed" injure them or put them at risk? No. This is done in a way similar to making a photocopy or taking a photograph but with digital cameras and copiers (scanners). Actually digitizing will provide you peace of mind knowing that a permanent copy has been made before the original deteriorates with age. If I e-mail or send digital copies, are there any guidelines? Generally speaking, we will be happy to accept relevant digital files. We may not be able to make use of everything, but here are some general guidelines: The materials should be directly tied to Haddon Township history (or pre-history) and have interest and appeal to a wide audience based upon recognizibility, information or documentation of an aspect of Haddon Township's past. If you have the opportunity to set scanning or photographing parameters, some formats are better than others. Finally, take a moment to write down what you know about your items or photos, such as dates, location, names, etc. A photograph without identification or context is of only limited value Thanks for helping to share our history.
