Green Valley Farms

Green Valley opened for business in the 1920s. The advertisement pictured at the left probably closely represents what Green Valley looked like during the 1930s era. However, Green Valley continued to use this image in advertising into the 1950s. The post card images below give a better indication of the change of the building: the change in the chimney from white to brick, the addition of a side screened patio area (and later a more permanent brick enclosure), a front awning (and later more formal entryway) and the addition of the side brick banquet area which housed the safari room--a room featuring stuffed animal trophies. The year 1949, was the last year that Green Valley's advertising included "raw" milk. Green Valley milk delivery continued until the 1970s. They also delivered orange juice. Insulated metal Green Valley boxes were a common sight on local porches. As times changes Green Valley ended its run as a family restaurant which featured ice cream. After Green Valley, there were a rapid string of establishments in the building including Charlie Brown's, Roaring Twenties, Katie O'Brien's, The Varsity Inn and most recently RMac's. The most recent incarnations focused on a combination bar and restaurant business.
